AGBT 2021: DeciBio Quick Highlights – Spatial Profiling Takes Center Stage
My Livingroom, Home March 4, 2021 – AGBT’s 21st edition was in sharp contrast to last year’s, and about 1% of the fun! As a result of the virtual format, we didn’t conduct our annual survey. With that said, it was clear from most of the friends and colleagues that we interviewed that spatial profiling was the talk of the town again this year, for the 3rd year in a row.
Established (e.g., 10x Genomics, NanoString) and emerging (e.g., Vizgen, Regus) players made exciting announcements that can be tracked on their respective sites. We will also be publishing additional articles tracking this space and players in the coming months. ~20% of the posters presented at the conference were on spatial omics.
We also noted a continued interest in single cell analysis, as well as good progress on population studies (e.g., AllofUs). We were also excited by a couple of talks about methylation analysis, in light of how important a marker it is becoming for early cancer detection.
Many of the talks also addressed the tools and solutions that they have developed for SARS-CoV-2.
Otherwise, the conference topics were remarkably aligned with topics that we discussed as part of the poster that we prepared for the conference (below). Feel free to reach out to us for a copy.DeciBio-AGBT2021-Poster.pdf (315 downloads)
We look forward to the 2022 event! With the rise of multiomics, perhaps we’ll have a peak at some generation proteomics sequencing solutions!
