Recognizing 20 Leaders Shaping Precision Medicine

Precision medicine is no longer a promise. It is being built, validated, and scaled. The Women of Precision Medicine 2026 collection recognizes leaders driving progress across science, diagnostics, clinical care, policy, and commercialization.

Now in its second year, Women of Precision Medicine builds on last year’s inaugural collection, which captured forward-looking perspectives on where the field is headed. This year, we focus on the leaders behind that progress, spotlighting the women shaping precision medicine today.

What is Women of Precision Medicine?

The Women of Precision Medicine (WOPM) initiative was created to amplify and celebrate women’s leadership across the precision medicine landscape. Our mission is to recognize women who are advancing the field across science, diagnostics, clinical care, technology, and policy, while inspiring future generations to pursue impactful careers in precision medicine.

Through this annual initiative, we aim to showcase the breadth of women’s contributions to precision medicine, whether through thought leadership, scientific innovation, clinical translation, or building the infrastructure that enables progress at scale.

Who Participated in This Year’s WOPM?

The Women of Precision Medicine 2026 cohort includes 20 women nominated by peers across the industry. This year’s group reflects leadership across oncology, diagnostics, therapeutics, women’s health, clinical care, and data-driven innovation, representing the depth and diversity of expertise required to advance precision medicine today.

We extend our sincere thanks to all the women recognized this year for their leadership, contributions, and continued commitment to moving the field forward.

Key Themes from the 2026 Cohort

Across therapeutic areas, technologies, and roles, several themes emerged from this year’s nominations:

1. Diagnostics is the Backbone of Precision Medicine

Many nominees are challenging the idea that diagnostics are secondary to therapeutics. Particularly in oncology and women’s health, their work highlights diagnostics as the strategic starting point for precision medicine, rather than a supporting function, improving treatment decisions and ultimately patient outcomes.

2. Precision Medicine Requires Infrastructure to Scale, Not Just Innovation

Beyond assays and algorithms, this cohort highlights the importance of laboratory automation, data infrastructure, operational excellence, and cross-functional execution. Several honorees are recognized for building the systems and platforms that allow precision medicine to sustainably scale.

3. From Discovery to Delivery

Many women in this cohort are focused on closing the gap between biological discovery and clinical practice. They are translating complex science into tools that fit the real-world, reflecting a shared belief that innovation only matters if it can reach clinicians and patients in a way they can actually use and trust.

4. Expanding Access, Equity, and Representation

Another nomination theme highlighted the growing gap between what precision medicine could hypothetically do and what health systems are actually able to do in practice. Leaders are focused on broadening access across patient populations historically underrepresented in both research and clinical care. These women are pushing against the structural barriers that limit who benefits from innovation, whether technical, economic, or policy-driven, to ensure that precision medicine works for all patients.

5. Leadership Across the Full Ecosystem

The 2026 cohort spans academia, startups, large industry, healthcare systems, and policy. Progress in precision medicine depends on leadership at every point in the ecosystem, from bench scientists to commercial builders to policy shapers.

Together, the Women of Precision Medicine 2026 cohort reflects a field moving from promise to real-world impact. Their leadership highlights what progress requires: sustained execution, cross-disciplinary collaboration, and an unwavering focus on patients. The future of precision medicine depends on leaders who continue to push boundaries, build trust, and translate innovation into care.
